East Mesa Fresh 48 Photographer Sally Whetten Photography welcomes baby Haven!
As you can see, Haven is VERY well loved by her new family! They couldn’t wait to meet her and are completely smitten by her.
This sweet little gal just wanted to nurse and be attached to mama for most of the day. She’s a champ of an eater, that’s for sure! You can tell in this photo that she wasn’t happy to be away from the breast, LOL!
It was SO fun to see big brother and sister so in love with their new baby. They wanted to examine every little part of her. Hold her little hands, touch her little toes, and kiss her sweet cheeks. But once they left mom and dad were able to enjoy some quiet moments with little Haven and enjoy the calm.
So, what is a Fresh 48? Well, quite simply, it’s a photo session of your brand new baby taken within the first 48 hours of it’s life. So this is usually in the hospital, unless you deliver at home or in a birth center. It’s usually taken wherever baby was born. You can see from these photos that there is a very different look to a fresh newborn than even a week or two later when they come to my studio for a traditional newborn photo session.
I’ve had people ask me “Which should I get – a fresh 48 or a regular newborn session?” My answer to that is definitely “BOTH!”. This precious freshly born baby look goes away SO, so quickly! And capturing the feeling of mom and dad as they are just meeting this little one that has already changed their lives in a matter of hours… There is nothing like it! I also love that these photos contain the scene at the time. The hospital bassinet, the bracelets, the umbilical cord clamp, the balloons and flowers from family and friends. We think our memories will serve us well as the years go by, but the fact is they don’t. We forget all those little things. Having them preserved in photographs brings the feeling and emotion of the moment back. That is the true magic of photography!
